The integrity of the Ophir Karate Association and its instructors is paramount. Consequently, all instructors must give written notice of all criminal convictions, outstanding or not, absolute and conditional discharges and cautions. The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) does not relate to those charged with the care of children; therefore ALL offences must be disclosed.
No person with a conviction for violence of any nature may instruct on behalf of the Association. Any person discovered to have an undisclosed conviction for a crime of violence (of any nature) shall be expelled immediately.
In giving their intention to train with the group, prospective students must disclose all details of any offence(s) to the committee, which shall make an informed decision, at its earliest convenience, as to the candidate's suitability for membership.
Our designated Child Protection officer, Mr Vincent Morrow, will work closely with Mr Pascal Nugent, ONAKAI Child Protection Officer, in the education of members on Child Protection policy and the implementing of relevant laws.
